Biography

Professional event band Informer have been together 8 years. We set the band up to create a super tight band that play awesome songs. We have various line up options, from 5 piece to 9 piece. Our 7 piece + options all include a razor sharp brass section. We also have a great rhythm section and fantastic singers, all the ingredients to make the live music at your event outstanding and memorable! We segue a lot of songs in our set list into each other, a little bit like a live DJ mixing tracks. This creates some interesting unexpected surprises in classic songs.

Our repertoire includes all the classic soul/funk/pop you would expect from an event band, we also keep up to date with modern hits and classics. We also offer additional options including, jazz sets and live lounge acoustic sets. We also offer additional main band sets.

Name: Christopher Britt
Instruments: Bass, Keyboards, MD
Education: BA hons in Music


As the band leader of Informer, Christopher has all the skills to help you make music at your event outstanding. As a bass and keyboard player, he has performed around the world in various musical projects from theatre productions, session work with major labels and studio work.

 

Name: Kelly Barnes
Instruments: Lead Vocals
Education: BA hons professional musicianship


Kelly has worked professionally in the music industry for the past 8 years. As well as fronting Informer, she is also an in demand session singer, providing backing vocals for Beverley Knight, Marc Almond, Holly Johnson and Heaven 17. Kelly also has extensive studio experience recording backing vocals for Katy B, Squeeze and Guy Chambers.

 

Name: Huw Jones
Instruments: Drums, BV's
Education: Guildhall School of Music and Drama 


Huw has been extremely passionate about drumming and percussion ever since he started playing at the age of seven. He studied at the world famous Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and his career as a professional freelance session musician has taken him all over the world, gigging with many well known artists and groups, with performances in many famous UK venues including the Albert Hall, Festival Hall, the O2, Wembley, Hammersmith Palais, Brixton academy, Glastonbury, Alexandra Palace, and the 100 club to name but a few.

His infectious grooving and enjoyment of music really drives the heartbeat of the band, which in turn gets everyone on the dance floor!

  Name: Jim Cheek
Instruments: Saxophone/Piano
Education: Birmingham Conservatoire/ Royal College of Music


Jim played Principal oboe in National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Performances with some of the World's best conductors included venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Albert Hall in London.

Jim also plays in a Jazz context as First alto player in Straight No Chaser Big Band and the Paul Busby Big Band. He has played in the horn section for Fast Freddie's Fingertips during 2008 series of performances and played in horn section for Bill Bruford Soul Band.
